Sri Lanka

Mahagastota Hill Climb successfully holds its 91st edition

The 91st edition of Sri Lanka's oldest motorsport event, the ACBT Mahagastota Festival of Speed 2025, delivered two days of high-octane competition in the picturesque hills of Nuwara Eliya on April 5-6. Established in 1934, this legendary hill climb continued its tradition of challenging competitors with steep inclines and tight corners across multiple racing categories.

Rotax Max Challenge - Japan

The Japanese Rotax season for 2025 kicked off in Circuit Mizunami over the weekend. With 5 categories of karting and 139 entries across the grid, the RMC Japan did not fail to entertain. With plenty of overtaking action and some impressive finishes, 井ノ瀬 由茂, Han John, Liu Xiao Lei, and  光山 勇正 take the their respective category wins. Following are the results: 

Sydney Motorsport Park

The opening races of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo at Sydney Motorsport Park saw a strong performance from SJM Theodore Racing duo Charles Leong and Alex Denning, who took the top step on the podium in both races of the PRO class. Read more about the incredible action from Australia:

Suzuka Intl. Circuit

The 2025 Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka, held April 4-6, marked Yuki Tsunoda’s highly anticipated debut with Red Bull Racing, while Alex Albon aimed to capitalize on his consistent form with Williams.

Tsunoda, promoted from Racing Bulls to partner Max Verstappen, faced immense pressure at his home race Free Practice 1 showed promise as he finished sixth, just a tenth off Verstappen, hinting at potential to adapt to the tricky RB21. However, qualifying turned out to be disappointing as a strategy error left him 15th, outpaced by Racing Bulls’ Liam Lawson and far from the top 10 he’d targeted.

In the race, Tsunoda fought back to 12th, passing Lawson and Pierre Gasly, finishing in the middle of the field showcasing promise, Red Bull’s highest position after Lawsons’ promotion. Meanwhile, Alex Albon had troubles during the race but ended scoring some points. After a solid FP1 (11th), he qualified 10th, showcasing Williams’ pace. In the race, he climbed to ninth, securing two points and outshining teammate Carlos Sainz (14th). Verstappen won, with McLaren’s Norris and Piastri completing the podium. 

Donington Park

Stellar start for Tse and Ramyead at the British GT in Donington

Kevin Tse, the Hong Kong born Macanese racing driver partnered up with Maximilian Goetz at 2Seas Motorsports secured a front row start for the first round of the British GT Championship at Donington Park last weekend. Come Race Day, Tse quickly lost P2 into the first corner to the Lamborghini Huracan driven by Barwell Motorsport. However, Tse and 2Seas managed to hold onto the podium position till the chequered flag through a safety car period and short session interruptions. 

The number 10 Bridger Motorsport team was manned by Hong Hong driver Chun Cheong Ip and Luke Garlick in the GT3 class. In his series debut and Honda’s British GP debut, Ip started the race in P13 with teammate Luke taking the second stint. The duo made their way up into the Top 10 and secured P2 in their sub class. 

British-Indian racing driver Ravi Ramyead driving the #71 Century Motorsport BMW M4 showed good pace in the first round of the British GT. Ramyead and his teammate Charlie Robertson started the race in the GT4 class in P4 in class. Ramyead started the race and quickly made up 2 spots by the end of 2 mins. The duo then maintained the P2 till the chequered flag. Century motorsport was handed a 5-second post race penalty, however, it did not affect their final position.
