Double the action at Ferrari Challenge in Suzuka and Phillip Island

Simultaneous Ferrari Challenges taking place at Suzuka and Phillip Island in Australia made it a thrilling weekend for sportscar racing. Here's the full rundown:

Koyama and Kim take double wins in Suzuka; Cheng wins to lead the championship in Ferrari Challenge Australasia

The Ferrari Challenge roared into action this weekend with simultaneous events at Japan's iconic Suzuka Circuit and Australia's scenic Phillip Island, delivering thrilling racing across multiple categories.

Suzuka Circuit hosted the opening round of the 2025 Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Japan alongside an F1 event, featuring 29 entries of the new 296 Challenge. Under clear skies on Saturday, Miki Koyama made an impressive debut in the Trofeo Pirelli class, securing a dominant pole-to-win victory. In the Trofeo Pirelli Am, Kanji Yagura capitalized on Motohiko Isozaki's spin to take the win. Phil Kim demonstrated veteran prowess in Coppa Shell with a commanding performance, while Norikazu Shibata claimed his first victory in the 16-car Coppa Shell Am field.

Sunday's action at Suzuka faced challenging conditions with light rain. Koyama completed her perfect weekend with another win, while Isozaki redeemed himself with victory in Trofeo Pirelli Am. Kim dominated Coppa Shell once more, and Ryutaro Saito bounced back to win Coppa Shell Am.

At Phillip Island, Masahiro Taguchi of Ferrari Brisbane continued his championship campaign, qualifying P4 for Race 1 where he secured a respectable P5 finish overall. The Coppa Shell category saw fierce competition with less than one second separating the top three qualifiers. Championship leaders Enzo Cheng and David Trewern battled intensely, with Cheng eventually taking the win to edge ahead in the standings while Taguchi strengthened his hold on third position. For Race 2, Taguchi qualified P6 and finished P8 overall, claiming another class podium with third place.
