Rabindra's European GT4 climb; Alva and Pariat's GB4 season
Read about Akhil Rabindra's season in the European GT4; Ruhaan Alva's first season in International racing cars in the GB4, and Jaden Pariat's return to GB4
Akhil Rabindra, the only Asian on the European GT4 grid this season, is racing for Racing Spirit of Léman in the Aston Martin Vantage AMR, with his Belgian teammate, Rodrigue Gillion. After the first round in Monza earlier in April, the series headed to Circuit Paul Ricard in France at the beginning of June, where he began the weekend in seventh and sixth after the two qualifying sessions in the Pro-AM category. While it was a P7 finish in Race 1 for Rabindra and the team, the rainy conditions in Race 2 made it harder for him to retain the P3 podium position he was in before the heavens opened up. Round 3 is currently underway in Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium this weekend, marking the halfway point in the series this year.
Graduating to single-seaters full-time this season is Ruhaan Alva, a 16-year-old from Bengaluru. He signed with Fortec Motorsport for the 2023 GB4 Championship, alongside American Colin Queen and fellow Indian, Aditya Kulkarni. The most recent round of the season was the Snetterton 300, held on June 17th and 18th. After impressive practice sessions on Thursday and Friday, Ruhaan qualified 7th, which led him to a mid-table finish, with P6 in Race 1, P10 in Race 2, and P8 in Race 3. With three more rounds and six more races left of the season, Alva stands 8th in the championship, just 13 points behind his teammate, Aditya Kulkarni.
Jaden Pariat is one of three Indians participating in the ROKiT Formula 4 British Championship this year. The teenager from Shillong had participated in two rounds of the championship last year, which made him come back for a full season, signing with Phinsys by Argenti as their third driver. There were three rounds held in June: Thruxton on June 3rd, Oulton Park on June 17th, and the inaugural Silverstone GP on June 24th. In Thruxton, Pariat qualified 21st, but made his way up to 16th in Race 2, his best finish that weekend. In Oulton Park, he started last but made up a few places in all three races, with 17th being his best finish in Race 3. Qualifying 19th in Silverstone, he was, unfortunately, unable to make up positions in all three Races, finishing P18, P21, and P17 in respective races. With four races left of the season, the 16-year-old stands 19th with 15 points to his name.
