Ohta’s Sebring Weekend Cut Short After Early Collision

Kaku Ohta's hopes for a strong showing at the 12 Hours of Sebring were dashed early. The No. 18 Era Motorsport ORECA LMP2 07, shared with David Heinemeier Hansson and Tobi Lutke, started P5 in the LMP2 category and P18 overall. However, the team's race was disrupted within the first ten minutes due to a collision with the No. 88 AF Corse, which brought out the first caution. Further trouble struck around the two-hour mark when the No.18 hit the barrier at Turn 17, causing significant damage to the front end and the tire barrier. Although the car limped back to the pits, the team was forced to retire. Unfortunately, Ohta never got the chance to take the wheel.

The only Asian drivers in F2, Kush Maini and Ritomo Miyata had a difficult weekend which saw them struggle for pace and filled with mechanical troubles. The weather also saw the feature race cancelled, which gave each one less opportunity to recover to grab some points.
